How The Lookout works
The Lookoutis a watch list. It tracks publicly announced class-action settlements, data breach settlements, recalls, refund programs, and privacy settlements from courts, regulators, and companies — and rewrites the announcement in plain English so it's easier to understand at a glance.
What we do
- Summarize public notices in plain language, without legal jargon.
- Track and remind you of claim deadlines you choose to save.
- Link directly to the official settlement administrator, court, agency, or company page responsible for each alert — every time.
- Cite the public source(s) we used to write each summary.
What we don't do
- We are not a law firm and don't give legal advice.
- We never tell you that you qualify for anything — only the settlement administrator, court, agency, or company can determine eligibility.
- We don't promise, estimate, or guarantee any payment amount.
- We don't file claims on your behalf or collect any payment-related information.
- We don't sell your email address.
Where alerts come from
Right now, every alert on The Lookoutis reviewed and entered manually by our small editorial team, using official public notices as the source. We plan to add direct feeds from sources like the FTC, CFPB, FDA, NHTSA, and CPSC over time — but a human always reviews an alert before it's published.
We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. The Lookout provides public information and links to official claim resources or trusted public sources. Eligibility, deadlines, and payment amounts are determined by the settlement administrator, court, agency, company, or official program responsible for the alert.
